JaBaS3 is a free platform independend backup system that can backup files in an encrypted and compressed form to Amazon's S3 service (http://www.amazon.com/s3). It was tested on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

Linux 1 Linux 2Mac 1Mac 2

You can start it directly using webstart by clicking on this link:

Start JaBaS3.

(under Mac OS X you may have to use Safari)

To use it, you have to register to Amazon's S3 service first (see quickmanual.html).

In any case if you use this software, you use it on your own risk (see license.html). By starting the program you agree to the license.

You can use the software for free and perhaps I will make it open source when it is finished.

Because the software is new, you may find some problems. Please report them on faq.html.

If you have problems starting the program using the link above, save the file http://jabas3.dgunia.de/webstart/jabas3.jnlp to your desktop and double-click it.

You need to have at least Java 1.5 installed. And to use better encryption, you should install the Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction from http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp at the bottom of the page. You can use this download for Java 5 and 6. Simply unpack the downloaded archive and put these replacement files into your jre/lib/security directory.

If you have questions please read the faq.html page.
